Song Studies

The Song Studies are new teachings based on popular song titles, and are available to Participants, Contributors and Members.  The goal of the Song Studies is to use our familiarity with the songs to explore our relationship with God.

The Bible says that we are in the world, but tells us not to be conformed to the world (Romans 12:2; John 17:15-17).  I enjoyed secular songs before I was saved, and continue to enjoy them today.  They helped shape who I am as a person, how I see love, what I think about life and how I approach the call on my life.  They helped me to value creativity, which belongs to God.

But I also recognize that my life is hid with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3).  So when I reach into my archives and play the songs I enjoy most, I am listening with my Christian ears as well as my musical ears, pulling out every possible meaning that I can get.  Part of the meaning I get is in exploring my walk with Christ, reaching deeper into my feelings for Him, and that's where the Song Studies come from.

Please note that the Song Studies are not critiques or commentaries on the artists' religious standing, lyrical meanings, morality, standing in heaven or hell or anything like that.

The Song Studies are my own independent thoughts about my relationship with God when I am listening to the songs.  Like, do I love Him, will I wait for Him, that type of thing.

Reach into your archives and enjoy the Song Studies with me!
