Who Do You Want Him To Be

Some of us want Jesus to be the Lord and Master over all of our lives, at the core, in every area, every domain. Trusting Him completely, not fully knowing or understanding the outcome. Let it be to me according to your word (Luke 1:38), as Mary said. And we mean it.

Others of us want Jesus to help us only after we’ve worked ourselves in a jam, as if He’s a cosmic “Get Out Of Jail Free” card that puts us back in play and otherwise stays out of our lives. And we mean it.

Which one are you? Or are you someone in between, who wants Jesus in your life, but is unsure of the consequences?

This is the question that you must ask yourself, over and over again. Who do you want Him to be? And you must not tarry the decision. You don’t know what’s going to happen in your life whether He’s at the core or not. But I’d rather Him be at the core of my life than tucked away somewhere, about as effective as a “Get Out Of Jail Free” card.

This is the second most critical question to answer as a follower of Christ—second only to who you believe Him to be—and there is no getting around it.

Who do you want Him to be?
