What We Want Most of All

What we want most of all is to have our way, and for a long time our culture has supported the notion that we could actually have it.  But economic times are different, and the harsh realities of rising costs and stagnant wages are starting to set in.

For African American women, it’s even harder because we typically get paid less, even in times of economic prosperity.  During lean times, we find our home and work responsibilities even more stretched to the limit while our resources continue to shrink.  We lose our faith in God and focus on people and things to deliver us from our difficulty.  Some examples include:

A man to take care of us.
More money to sustain us.
Marriage to protect us.
Jobs to provide for us.

Take care.  Sustain.  Protect.  Provide.  Exactly what God promises He does for us.

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

So don’t worry, because I am with you.  Don’t be afraid, because I am your God.  I will make you strong and will help you; I will support you with my right hand that saves you.
Isaiah 41:10, NCV

For You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat  Isaiah 25:4

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

We make a mistake when we expect other people and things to deliver us.  It isn’t God’s way at all (Isaiah 55:8, 9), and we are missing Him.  So, decide today:

What do you want most of all?
