What Is Jesusqueens |
 |
It is a website that is devoted to restoring African American women to wholeness in God. A lot of times we make decisions in our lives that cause us to fall away from God. Jesusqueens helps us let the word of God speak comfort to our hearts to return us to Him (Hosea 2:14). Look at the different areas of your your own life:
Spiritual—your personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ
Physical—your body
Mental—your thoughts and concerns
Emotional—your feelings
Vocational—your calling; the gifts God gave you to glorify Him in your profession, family life, church or community
Educational—your knowledge and level of formal training
Financial—your money
Relational—your commitment to the person you are dating, your fiancé or your spouse
Familial—the group you were born into, or the people who took you in as their own
Social—what you do to connect with others (attend church functions, go out with friends)
Recreational—what you do with your physical body, for enjoyment (hiking, aerobics)
Material—what you own
Are there some areas where you've fallen away? Take the self-assessment on the site. Are there some areas where you need to improve so that your life falls more in line with what Jesus wants for you? Jesusqueens teaches you step by step what you can do in each area of your life to restore your walk with Jesus by addressing issues relevant to you as an African American woman.
I created this site because I want to see African American women grow in our relationship with Christ. I want to see us connect with each other beyond geographical boundaries. And I want to see us support and encourage each other through our lifetime walk with Him.
I've been doing this for over ten years, first as Bible teachings through a local church, then as community newsletters, and now as a website.
Why Jesusqueens?
Because Christ is King and we are His church, His bride. And no one can be the bride of a King but a queen.
Why African American women?
Jesus came for everybody, and that is the point of Jesusqueens.
All too often African American women are stereotyped, invalidated, or forced to silence the needs of our hearts. We know the talk. “Why are you so special? Everyone gets mistreated sometime. Nothing different is happening to you. Why don’t you straighten up and act right? Be NICE like everybody else. Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. Quit asking for handouts.”
As a result, African American women still feel invisible, invalidated, undervalued, unheard. This is not the desire of Jesus. He came to all of us equally (Colossians 3:11). Jesusqueens gives Christian voice to our issues, validates our concerns and helps us recognize our unique value in God, who is and who was and who is to come (Revelation 1:8).
But here’s the other piece. Part of the site is dedicated to helping us increase our self-esteem as African American women, but the other part is to show us what we are doing to tear apart our relationship with God, and what we can do to make things right again. Therefore, a strong message of accountability—for what we do against God and against others, and for what others do against us (Galatians 6:7)—coupled with God’s grace (2 Peter 3:8, 9) is at the core of every Bible teaching.
The Bible says we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). This is too hard for some. But we need the complete picture, and that is what Jesusqueens gives, the complete picture, just like the Bible. In other words, Jesusqueens teaches the TRUTH. So it's not the nice, cliquey, feel-goody site, like the name might suggest.
Jesusqueens is not for everybody. Some people are not ready to make the changes they need to make in their lives and may need a nice, cliquey, feel-goody site to make them feel okay. So be it. But for the African American Christian woman who is ready to make the changes she needs to make, who can handle the truth, who is ready to push beyond the limits she has set for herself and press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14), and who wants to join a community of believers who are ready to do the same, Jesusqueens is the place to be.
Why so…radical?
Jesus Christ was radical. He spoke about love and forgiveness in a society consumed by hate and division. And when He spoke entire lives were changed. And they are being changed still.
Why for sale?
Not everything on Jesusqueens is for sale. Jesusqueens is a content rich site, and most of the lighter material is free. But for your privacy and protection the more serious content is under the Members tab. Go there to receive the Bible teachings, support and encouragement you need as an African American woman.
Go to Jesus Christ for the rest of your life, because no one else can solve your problems. Make that commitment and receive those teachings.
If you are not ready to become a member, feel free to take in the feel of the website and go at your own pace.
How long is Jesusqueens?
For as long as you want to serve Him. I'll update Jesusqueens articles, Bible studies and devotionals one domain at a time (spiritual, physical, mental, etc.) to help us make changes in our lives so that Jesus Christ is truly First, in every area. |
